The Baggy Pants

Being the parent of a teenager, a phenomenon I never imagined I would ever attain by the way, presents some challenging crimes of fashion along with my own perception of now being a person of some ancient
generation. When I was in school, the emphasis was solely on tempering the hormones of teenage girls; yep, that would have been me, and the school administrators ordering us to lengthen our micro mini skirts, expand the material on those belly shirts and an across the board ban, no matter what the season or how hot the weather, on Daisy Mae shorts. Now somehow the attention has shifted to the boys.
It is the pants they wear; the ones cinched to mid thigh position so that their walk is more like a penguin shuffle and their underwear has more exposure than baby diapers at the local beach club. To bring even more “exposure” are the new laws right here in South Florida measuring the degree of impropriety in mere inches or perhaps now just a legal and perplexing conundrum. Voters in excess of 70% opted to get the men and boys to pick up their pants either by perfecting a tighter fit, using a belt, trying a pair of suspenders or any make shift rope, twine, braid or expanded shoelace to hide the private parts pants were originally intended to hide. In other words, can we bring back some propriety to our schools and sidewalks using governmental power?
Based on measurements, police officers arrested a 29 year old man in Riviera Beach for exposure of undergarments in public, slung lower than 2 inches. The first offense is punishable by a fine of $150.00 and a second offense can even carry a 30 day jail sentence. I wonder if the one piece jumpsuit issued for jail are baggy? The custom of baggy pants originated from African culture and has become an exaggerated street fashion, but the impracticality really does make me yearn for my generation when pants used to fit and instead of using a thumb in a belt loop to keep the entire panorama of skivvies out of view, there would be khakis, board shorts, fitted jeans with the cute male behinds we ladies so used to admire.

Well, the fashion rebellion continues, and though I thankfully see less and less of the capacious cargoes, did it not take forever to get rid of rock ‘n’ roll, crew cuts, beehives, and thong bikinis? We did not need government intervention in the good old generation of the 1980′s either, but it makes me wonder how long I would have been in jail for wearing short shorts and those wicked high heels.

A pair of jeans is one of the most important pieces that you can actually pick from denim. If you look around, you will surely notice somebody wearing a denim in the streets. Indeed, denim generally appeals to this era’s modern look. And it has evolved since its humble beginnings. Now, more than just complementing a rugged style, the denim already rises to whatever great occasion there is. You can already wear it if you are looking for something dressy. You can match it with your casuals. And with the right design and styling, you can even put a blazer on with it and look corporate…

The material denim is used for the familiar blue jeans. Denim denotes a rugged cotton twill textile with fibers that produce the familiar diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric. This actually distinguishes denim from cotton duck. History says that denim was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue “jeans.”
Accessorizing with denim is something that never really goes out of style. In following the trends, you can get a structured bag made out of denim. Another piece of accessory that never goes out of fashion is denim shoes. You can pair it with your denim bag and look as fashionable as can be. You can also try an updated denim skirt with the length just right for your frame. A denim jacket works perfect with almost any outfit – it has always been in style and they are available in all lengths and shades. Just make sure the colors of your get-up complement. You can go for skirts, leather pants, or even a cocktail dress and then add a denim jacket and the look should be perfect. You can also get a colored denim if blue is not your color or is not what you are in the mood for. Try a blazer or trousers made of colored denim. There are shades that look great on anybody – including the shades of red, green or pink. You can also take advantage of wearing a denim bucket hat to protect your hair from rain showers or just wear it out of wanting to look trendy. Or for a more rugged or casual look, pick a denim cap to match your chosen outfit.
Amidst such options, one thing that is deeply associated with denim are the jeans – the pants in all those designs and cuts. It has surely evolved for all these decades (and even centuries). You can pair your jeans with a wide suede or leather belt for one of the most fashionable results. From the simplest to the sexiest to the most eccentric, you have all the choices in the world. And you can even pick one with specific prints that would go with the rest of your outfit.
Denim pants have countless cuts and designs to people can choose from. Some low-rise jeans look good with oversized patch pockets in back. Some works with a raised coin pockets. Some have ultra skinny belt loops. Most have metallic or copper rivets to strengthen the pockets (which also works well for the pant’s design). Some have downsized back pockets with narrow, lowered accurate stitching. Some have boldly colored stitching accents. Some have richly faded designs. Some are creased down the center.
One comfortable design is having a loose cut through the leg with a slouchy fit at the top. Another style is a wearable low rise with flared legs. Meanwhile, going for boot cut jeans with a slight flare balances proportions. A bold and fearless fit that’s low and super-sexy with an extra-long leg to stack over heels or wear in boots is another benchmark for the svelte figure. A slimming straight cut with minimalist appeal worn with heels or cuffed with flats can be utilized as well. For a comfortable, classic fit with tapered leg, having an extended front-tab closure and button-down flap pockets can be one design to consider. A boot cut maternity jeans can work well with a trouser-style that is made with elastic panels at the sides for comfort. The tilted rise helps eliminate waistband gaps and provides additional coverage in back. It caters to a comfortable look with an elastic waist that can be worn under belly. Plus-size boot cut jeans are also readily available – giving a comfortable, relaxed fit. Ideally, comfort can be achieved if the design sits at the waist and then cuts fuller for maximum ease through the hips and thighs. You can look for a straight and roomy fit through the seat, thigh and leg
More than the ordinary straight fit, straight leg, and boot leg, the more adventurous ones can also go for jeans with more vintage details. You can also take advantage of using super-slim belts on the belt loops and stitching accents and airbrush sprays for a more hip look.
Picking up the perfect jeans can be quite tricky. In general, keep in mind that what works best is to keep up with the classic and feminine look. The general rules of fashion applies as mainly considering your body frame, skin tone, and the complementing colors and designs of your overall look – consider these and you can surely pick the best denim for your day.
